President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, while sacking Jalal Arabi, whom he appointed last October. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has issued the Federal Government of its plans to embark on a nationwide strike over its non-implementation of agreements with the Union. As a result of this, the government has hereby been placed on a 21-day notice of its plans to embark on a nationwide strike action. The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, Isaac Omodewu, has died in the United States of America, USA. According to PUNCH Online, which exclusively reported that Omodewu left Nigeria in November 2023 for a medical trip. He, however, succumbed to death after close to a year, receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment in the USA, where he was a citizen. The driver of an unregistered Honda Accord vehicle, has killed one person after crashing into a motorcycle along Oru-Ijebu Igbo road in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State. According to a statement released by the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, on Sunday, stated that the accident occured at about 8pm on Saturday. The Ogun State Police Command has said that it has arrested a cult member, Adekunle Adebajo, over his alleged involvement in the killing of a member of a suspected rival cult group in Ijebu Ode.
