The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has reassured corps members of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving their welfare, confirming plans for a new monthly allowance of N77,000 in line with the recently approved national minimum wage.

Ahmed disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja while commissioning a staff bus donated to the NYSC by Capital Express Insurance Company.

He emphasized that all necessary arrangements for the payment have been concluded.

“Modalities have been worked out to ensure corps members start receiving the N77,000 monthly allowance as stipulated by the Federal Government’s new minimum wage framework,” Ahmed said.

The NYSC DG reiterated that his administration prioritizes the security and welfare of corps members, assuring them of more benefits in the year 2025.

Speaking about the donation of the staff bus, Brigadier General Ahmed acknowledged its significance, stating, “This generous gesture will help address the persistent transportation challenges faced by staff of the NYSC.”

The Chief Executive Officer of Capital Express Insurance Company, Mr. Matthew Ogwezhi, described the donation as part of the organization’s partnership with the NYSC.

“Our company has been in collaboration with the scheme for years, and this bus is a reflection of our commitment to alleviating staff transportation difficulties, especially with the rising cost of fuel and commuting in Abuja,” Ogwezhi said.

He added, “The legacy of any organization lies in the impact it creates in society. It is our duty to always give back to the community.”
