An alumnus of Crescent University, Yusuf Abidemi Sopeyin, also the winner of the Proprietor’s prize for the best behaved male graduating student at the 2009 convocation, has been promoted to the position of Professor of Economics and Artificial Intelligence at the Omniversity Imperial College LCC, Missouri, United States of America (USA).
In his response to the feat, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila expressed his congratulations on behalf of the Proprietor, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola SAN, Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate Management, Staff, Students and Alumni Association to Professor Yusuf Abidemi Sopeyin.
Also, he described the academic fear as crystalization of the vision and mission of the Founder, His Excellency Prince Bola Ajibola of blessed memory.


In his own reaction, the Registrar, Barrister Zakariyya Ajibola, recalled that Professor Sopeyin was among the four beneficiaries of Bola Ajibola Scholarship for Academic and Moral Excellence to Jordan, where he earlier did his Master’s degree.
While, other beneficiaries were; Dr Izzudeen Adetunji (up to PhD), Daouda Jawara, a Liberian refugee from Oru Camp, who was brought to work at Crescent University and Ibrahim Olanrewaju, son of the Chief Imam of the Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) respectively.
According to the former Head of Department of Economics, Prof. Rasaki Kareem, “Having a Crescent University product reach climax of his academic career within two decades is a pride to the university”.
Prof. Kareem, now a Dean of Students’ Affairs, also added, “the academic achievements of Prof. Sopeyin was deeply rooted in the foundation he had as an undergraduate at Crescent University, Abeokuta, that there are so many of them around the world”.
