Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Dr. Adam Hussein Abdullahi, a global health scientist from Lafiagi, on winning the prestigious Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER) Grant.
The $150,000 grant, awarded to only four researchers worldwide from a pool of over 1,000 applicants, recognizes outstanding contributions to pediatric HIV research. Dr. Abdullahi is one of just two African recipients in this cycle.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye on August 24, Governor AbdulRazaq described the award as “a reward for his years of research and professional commitment to making a difference in the global efforts to tackle HIV pandemic.”
“We are proud of the achievements of Dr. Adam Hussein Abdullahi, and we wish him many years of greater breakthroughs and recognitions in his field,” the Governor said.

Dr. Abdullahi, son of Dr. Abdullahi Amanah, president of the Lafiagi Descendants’ Development Union (LADDU), is a former Harvard Takemi Fellow and Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. His research spans SARS-CoV-2 vaccine immunogenicity in West Africa and Mpox transmission risks in Nigeria.
Governor AbdulRazaq urged the scientist to “remain committed to his humanitarian mission of helping young children lead meaningful lives despite their HIV status.”
