In a significant political development within Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, the Apagun Olaseni Salako Support Groups have officially announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while also declaring their unwavering support for all candidates of the APC in the forthcoming elections.
Apagun Olaseni Salako, a respected grassroots politician, philanthropist, and former House of Representatives aspirant under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made this known during a meeting with the leaders, coordinators, members and supporters across the federal constituency. Salako, who has been a committed card-carrying member of the PDP and has invested enormous resources towards the growth and success of the party over the years, explained that the decision to join the APC was reached collectively by members of his support groups after extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders.
According to him, the move is driven by the desire to align with a progressive political platform that offers greater opportunities for the development of Ogun West and the overall advancement of Ogun State.
Apagun Salako emphasized that one of the major reasons behind the decision is the candidacy of Distinguished Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), whom he described as a transformational leader with the capacity, experience, and vision to move Ogun State to greater heights. He noted that supporting Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition is not only a political decision but also a historic mission to ensure fairness, equity, and inclusiveness in the state’s political leadership.

“For decades since the creation of Ogun State, no indigene of Ogun West has had the opportunity to serve as Governor. This is a crucial moment for our people to unite and support a worthy son of the soil whose track record in public service speaks volumes. Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, commitment to development, and dedication to the welfare of the people,” Salako stated.
He called on all members of his support groups, political associates, and well-meaning residents of Yewa South, Ipokia, and Ogun West at large to rally behind distinguished Senator Yayi and indeed, the APC and work tirelessly for the success of all its candidates at every level of elections in 2027.
The support groups reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing voters, strengthening grassroots engagement, and contributing meaningfully to the victory of the APC in future elections. They expressed confidence that the emergence of Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi as Governor would mark a new era of development, inclusiveness, and prosperity for Ogun State, particularly for the long-marginalized Ogun West Senatorial District.
The defection of the Apagun Olaseni Salako Support Groups is widely regarded as a major boost for the APC in Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency and further demonstrates the growing momentum behind the aspiration of Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi and the party’s quest for victory.
