The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo, have agreed to deepen collaboration between the police and the nation’s apex policy think tank, with a focus on security, leadership development, and policy reform.
The meeting, which held on Thursday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, saw Professor Omotayo accompanied by retired DIG ‘Leye Oyebade and Dr. Garba Malumfashi.
Speaking during the visit, the NIPSS DG described the institute as Nigeria’s foremost platform for strategic reflection and research, operating directly under the supervision of the Presidency. He noted that NIPSS is uniquely positioned to support the Nigeria Police Force in areas such as policy formulation, capacity building, and strategic leadership.
In his response, IGP Disu reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and ongoing reforms aimed at boosting professionalism and service delivery. He welcomed the proposed partnership, emphasising that collaboration with top policy institutions is critical to advancing national security objectives.
“The Nigeria Police Force is ready to partner with NIPSS in advancing research, policy formulation, and leadership development initiatives that will strengthen internal security and governance,” the IGP said.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, later reiterated the police’s dedication to institutional partnerships in the collective effort to ensure a safer Nigeria.
