Labour Party candidate, Michael Adewale Adesanya during an interactive programme tagged “Meet the Press” organized by the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at the Olusegun Osoba Hall, Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta on Friday August 8, 2025, presented his detailed strategy for economic transformation in Remo Federal Constituency and Ogun State if elected as the representative of Remo Federal Constituency at the forthcoming by-election on August 16, 2025.

Addressing journalists, Adesanya confronted the region’s critical economic challenges, highlighting an alarming 35% youth unemployment rate. He articulated a vision that goes beyond traditional political rhetoric, focusing on practical solutions for economic development.

Adesanya emphasized the untapped potential of Business Process Outsourcing, describing it as a billion-dollar opportunity that could revolutionize employment for young people in the region. He criticized current infrastructure and economic policies that have hindered youth potential and economic growth.

Adesanya’s background as a first-class graduate with international scholarships from UNILAG and Stanford University formed a significant part of his narrative. He positioned himself as a unique candidate with both global perspective and local understanding, having successfully managed multi-million dollar business ventures before the age of 25.

Women’s economic empowerment emerged as a critical theme in his address. He highlighted the crucial role of women traders, noting that while they constitute a significant portion of the local economy, only a small percentage have access to business support and capital.

The programme “Meer the Press”provided a platform for Adesanya to outline his comprehensive approach to addressing educational challenges, infrastructure development, and economic opportunities. He stressed the need for a representative who can attract investments, create meaningful employment, and transform the region’s economic landscape.

Running on the Labour Party platform, Adesanya presented himself as a candidate committed to grassroots development and economic empowerment. He challenged traditional political narratives by offering a data-driven, experience-backed approach to regional development.

The event, strategically timed ahead of the August 16, 2025 by-election, allowed journalists to probe deeper into Adesanya’s vision for Remo and Ogun State. His responses emphasized a holistic approach to addressing systemic economic challenges through innovative leadership and targeted development strategies.

Journalists were particularly interested in his plans for youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and economic diversification. Adesanya responded with detailed insights into his proposed tech hubs, BPO training programs, and strategies for attracting strategic investments to the region.

Adesanya concluded by presenting himself as more than a traditional political candidate – a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success in business, education, and entrepreneurship.
