Abeokuta, Ogun State — August 9, 2025
The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is set to host Asiwaju Bolarinwa Oluwole, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Remo Federal Constituency by-election, in the concluding edition of its “Meet the Press” series. Scheduled for Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., the event will be held at the NUJ Secretariat, Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, and is expected to attract journalists, political analysts, and members of the public interested in hearing Oluwole’s policy agenda and vision for the constituency.
In a statement released by Bunmi Adigun on behalf of the Council, the NUJ reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic transparency and informed voter participation. The “Meet the Press” initiative has previously featured candidates from the ADC, APC, and Labour Party, each given a platform to present their plans and address public concerns. The NUJ emphasized that the series is designed to help constituents assess the readiness and policy direction of those vying for public office.
Oluwole’s session will focus on pressing developmental issues affecting Remo Federal Constituency, such as infrastructure deficits, educational reform, healthcare access, and economic development with an emphasis on job creation. Journalists will engage the candidate with probing questions, ensuring that the conversation remains centered on accountability and actionable solutions.

This final installment of the series underscores NUJ Ogun’s active role in fostering civic dialogue and journalistic integrity ahead of the August 16, 2025 by-election.
