“It’s a Sign of Failure”: Toyin Amuzu Urges Ogun People to Remain Resolute Against APC’s Oppression

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP House of Representatives candidate in the 2023 elections and a community leader, Chief Toyin Amuzu (TA), has called on the people of Ogun State not to lose hope but to remain strong, firm and resolute in their quest to change the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the violence, intimidation and malpractices that marred yesterday’s bye-election in Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North Federal Constituency, Chief Amuzu said the conduct of the polls was a clear sign of the total failure of the APC across all sectors.

“Here is a government that has inflicted poverty, hunger and untold suffering on the people, yet it cannot even conduct a free and fair election. Instead, what we saw were thugs chasing, beating and harassing innocent voters, aided in some cases by security agencies who should protect the people but looked the other way,” he said.

Chief Amuzu condemned the use of young men as tools of terror, describing it as shameful and dangerous for the future of Ogun State and Nigeria.

According to the Asiwaju Leragun Egba, “those who allow themselves to be used to unleash terror must understand that they are destroying the same society they live in. And those who support or look away from this fraud and oppression should know that one day, they too will become victims of the evil they are nurturing.”

Chief Amuzu added, “we all are victims of whatever we mould of our society. I have seen a governor who died in a hospital he refused to equip, I have seen a former president who died when he witnessed a robbery, thus we must be careful of how we handle our society.”

He urged the people not to be cowed by fear or oppression, stressing that true power belongs to the people.

“We must not allow a few individuals to hijack what rightly belongs to all of us. The will of the people is stronger than the sword of oppression. A new Ogun State is possible, but it requires courage and unity.”

Chief Amuzu charged the people of Ogun State to take their destinies in their own hands by being ready to vote, protect their votes and resist every form of oppression.

“The change we seek will not be given freely, we must demand it, defend it and ensure that our voices are not silenced.”

He assured that the struggle for justice, fairness and good governance will continue until the people’s will prevails.

“No matter how long it takes, the voice of the people will triumph. Yesterday’s charade was not an election but a sign that APC is desperate and unpopular. The people of Ogun must stay strong, change is coming.” Amuzu stated.
