Ogun State Government, through the State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), has sealed Ideal Warehouse in Asese, Obafemi Owode Loal Government area of the State, over alleged air pollution and environmental violations, following public complaints raised by a social media blogger.

This was revealed by the General Manager, Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Hon. Kehinde Bello while speaking to newsmen after the enforcement exercise.

Bello said the issue gained attention after the blogger released a video on social media, alleging that emissions from activities within the warehouse were affecting air quality and posing health risks to residents in the surrounding community, a development that sparked widespread concern online, prompting calls for government intervention.

The Ogepa boss said that, in response, officials of OGEPA visited the facility to conduct an environmental assessment and following the inspection, the agency sealed the warehouse, due to non-compliance with environmental safety and air quality regulations, pending further investigation and corrective measures.

Hon. Bello, reiterated his agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws across Ogun state and warned that industries and facilities operating without proper environmental safeguards would face sanctions, while he also encouraged residents to report environmental hazards through appropriate channels to enable swift action.

Accordingly, residents of Aroshuku in Asese had welcomed the government’s intervention, describing it as a positive step toward protecting public health and ensuring a safer environment, while some community members called for sustained monitoring to prevent a recurrence of similar incidents.

In a related development, Sanhe Nigeria Limited, along Lagos-Ibadan Express Way, which is into plastic recycling, was also sealed for discharge of untreated waste water into the community.
