The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has officially inaugurated a new task force aimed at ensuring strict environmental compliance across the State.

The task force, which was inaugurated by the General Manager of OGEPA, Hon. Kehinde Bello, is tasked with overseeing the enforcement of environmental laws and regulations, a move that is known to be part of the State government’s ongoing efforts to address growing environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in the State.

Inaugurating the task force, Bello said the role of the team would be crucial in monitoring the activities of industries and ensuring their strict compliance with laws of the State.

Speaking further, Hon. Bello emphasized the critical role of environmental protection in safeguarding public health and fostering economic growth, noting that, Ogun State, being an industrial hub, faced significant environmental challenges that required collaborative efforts between the government, businesses and local communities.

“The formation of this task force is a key component of our strategy to ensure adherence to environmental regulations, standards and best practices,” Bello said.

The task force would also be responsible for conducting routine inspections and address environmental issues in the industries.

The General Manager therefore charged members of the team to exhibit a high level of commitment to the task ahead of them and ensure professional environmental practice across the State.
