OGEPA Charges Environmental Consultants on Due Process

OGEPA’s meeting with Environmental Consultants

The General Manager, Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Hon. Kehinde Bello has reinforced the importance of adherence to due process among accredited consultants within the State.

He made this known during an interactive meeting with accredited consultants registered with the agency in his office at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, saying that they must ensure due diligence and not be given in to compromise in the discharge of their duties.

“As the statutory agency responsible for regulating environmental compliance and protection, we are committed to minimising environmental infractions and ensure decisions are made transparently and within the environmental extent laws” He said.

The OGEPA boss said the consultants had a major role to play in advising industries on adherence to due process.

In his contribution, Director, Laboratory Services in the agency, Mr. Abiodun Durojaye reminded the consultants on the need to submit their Environmental monitoring report which included, effluent analysis and air quality assessment carried out for their client on quarterly basis.

Earlier in her welcome address, Mrs. Adeola Sowunmi, Director, Planning Research and Statistics, OGEPA, spoke on the need for every industrial facility in the State to abide by the agencies directives to avoid been sanctioned.

In his response, Dr. Opone Valentine, Managing Director, Accappocco Global, appreciated the agency for the meeting, while calling for more collaboration to ensure a sustainable environment.
