The House of Representatives Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vying to represent Abeokuta South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly and founder of the Toyin Amuzu Foundation, Chief Toyin Amuzu (TA), has warmly welcomed former Senator, Professor Iyabo Obasanjo, to the Peoples Democratic Party, describing her entry into the party as a major boost to the “Ogun for Ogun” project and the collective aspiration to rescue the state from years of hardship under APC.
Amuzu, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, said the return of the former Ogun Central Senator to the PDP has further strengthened the growing coalition of progressive-minded leaders committed to restoring hope and rebuilding the future of Ogun State.
Using the popular expression, “Ko si omo bi Iyabo” (There is no child like Iyabo), the PDP stalwart said Professor Obasanjo’s pedigree, experience and commitment to humanity have remained unmatched over the years.
According to him, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo’s outstanding record as Coordinator of the Iyaniwura Foundation, through which countless lives were touched, empowered and transformed, reflects the people-oriented ideals that the PDP represents.

“Professor Iyabo Obasanjo is not a stranger to service. Through the Iyaniwura Foundation, she brought hope to many families, empowered women and youths, supported the vulnerable and demonstrated genuine concern for the welfare of the people. These are values that align perfectly with the philosophy and vision of the Peoples Democratic Party,” Amuzu stated.
He noted that beyond her humanitarian efforts, the former senator has continued to improve herself academically and professionally, gaining broader exposure and deeper insights into governance and development issues.
“Today, she returns with an even richer wealth of experience, knowledge and exposure. She is here to contribute meaningfully to the development of her fatherland and support the mission of building a better Ogun State for all. Her decision to join the PDP is a patriotic one and a clear indication that credible leaders are rallying around the platform that offers the best hope for our people.”
Amuzu recalled Professor Obasanjo’s tenure as Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, describing it as a period of quality representation and effective advocacy for the interests of the people.
“Her record at the National Assembly remains a testament to purposeful leadership. She represented Ogun Central with dignity, competence and courage. Her voice was always heard on issues affecting the people, and her commitment to public service remains exemplary.”
The PDP leader further stated that the entrance of Professor Obasanjo into the party reinforces the strength of the growing political movement around the governorship aspiration of Hon. Dr. Oladipupo Adebutu, popularly known as LADO.
“The LADO Team continues to grow stronger every day because the people of Ogun State are united in their desire for positive change. The coming together of experienced leaders, professionals, youths, women and grassroots mobilisers is a clear signal that the PDP is prepared to protect the interests of Ogun people and deliver a government that works for everyone.”
Amuzu lamented the current economic challenges facing Nigerians, saying the hardship, insecurity and rising cost of living under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have made life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens.
He maintained that the PDP remains committed to offering a credible alternative through its agenda of “Restoring Hope, Rebuilding Our Future” and creating “A New Life of Opportunities” for the people.
“The suffering in the land has become unbearable. Ogun people deserve better. They deserve a government that listens, cares and delivers. That is why the PDP is preparing to reclaim its mandate and usher in a new era of prosperity, accountability and inclusive development.”
Chief Amuzu therefore urged party members and supporters across the state to continue mobilising at the grassroots and remain united ahead of the 2027 general election, expressing confidence that the PDP is on course to secure victory and return Ogun State to the path of progress.
