ABEOKUTA, Ogun State — In a strongly worded rebuttal issued Thursday, Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael, the Ogun State Chairman of the ACCORD Party, condemned the recent press statement released by Comrade Abayomi Sanyaolu, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ogun State, describing it as “undemocratic, unilateral and misleading.”
“Comrade Sanyaolu’s statement does not reflect the collective position of political parties in Ogun State. It is a personal declaration masquerading as consensus.”
The ACCORD Chairman accused Sanyaolu of running IPAC “as a personal property,” citing the absence of any formal IPAC meeting since February 2025. He added:
“It is shocking and completely undemocratic for him to issue a statement in the name of IPAC without consultation or endorsement by member parties.”

Hon. Michael further criticized Sanyaolu for allegedly collaborating with individuals whose claims to party leadership remain unrecognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He clarified:
“Mr. John Aina, Esq. is the INEC-recognized Ogun State Chairman of NNPP, not Mr. Olaposi Oginni. Likewise, Alhaji Lukmon Jagun is the legitimate Chairman of Labour Party, not Mr. Abayomi Arabambi.”
The ACCORD Party distanced itself from the IPAC Chairman’s remarks, asserting that Sanyaolu’s views represent only his party, Action Alliance (AA), and not the broader coalition of Ogun State political parties.
“We reaffirm that IPAC must be guided by democratic norms of consultation, transparency, and respect for due process,” Hon. Michael stated.
Referencing the August 16 Remo Federal Constituency bye-election, the ACCORD Chairman expressed concern over reports of “malpractice, intimidation, and irregularities,” emphasizing the right of political parties to seek redress through constitutional channels.
Hon. Michael urged national IPAC leadership, INEC, and “patriotic Nigerians” to take note of what he described as “undemocratic tendencies” and to caution Comrade Sanyaolu against future misuse of the IPAC platform.
