The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has reassured corps members of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving their welfare, confirming plans for a new monthly allowance of N77,000 in line with the recently approved national minimum wage. A High Court in Ibadan, presided by Justice Kamarudeen Olawoyin, has fixed January 13, to rule on the bail application filed by Ooni of Ife’s ex-queen, Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Hamzat Oriyomi and Abdullahi Fasasi. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it dismissed 27 of its officers last year for misconduct and fraudulent activities. The anti-graft agency also said it was investigating “a trending $400,000 claim of a yet-to-be-identified supposed staff of the EFCC against a Sectional Head.” The commission’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement on Monday. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a remittance of over N6bn to the coffers of the Nigerian government in 2024. According to the board’s weekly bulletin released on Monday by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB generated a total income of N22,996,653,265.25 in 2024, out of which N6,034,605,510.69 was remitted to the government. Additionally, the board noted that the reduction of N1,500 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination form fees for candidates, multiplied by the number of beneficiaries, increased the effective remittance to N9,013,068,510.69.
