President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be embarking on a trip to the People’s Republic of China, for the China-Africa Forum in the first week of September, just a week after returning from France. The Lagos State Government has commenced its enforcement against establishments violating the State Environmental Laws of 2017, shutting down several businesses and religious institutions in contravention of the law, on Tuesday. The state government, following an operation in the Ojo Local Government Area by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency sealed the affected establishments including churches, hotels, bars, an event centre, and a recycling company. President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Directors-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, and the Department of State Services, DSS. The new Director-General of the DSS is Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, while the new Director-General of the NIA is Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed. The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, has said that underage candidates will no longer be allowed to sit for the secondary school leaving examinations, which are the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). The Emir of Ningi in Bauchi State, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya, has passed away at the age of 84. He died in the early hours of Sunday in Kano, where he was receiving medical attention for age-related health issues. The Emir’s death was announced by the Secretary of the Emirate, Alhaji Usman Sule, Magayakin Ningi, in a statement.
