ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Government has unveiled plans for a comprehensive road maintenance initiative set to cover all twenty local government areas.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, during an inspection tour of the Leme–Abiola Way–Madojutimi roads in the state capital, Abeokuta.
According to Engr. Adesina, the programme is a key part of the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure, enhancing mobility, and alleviating the difficulties faced by commuters on dilapidated roads.
He emphasised that the government is prioritising both urban and rural road projects to support local businesses, improve community connectivity, and stimulate economic growth across the state.
“We will ensure that all parts of the state’s roads are touched by the road maintenance gang, as the present administration is determined to make road networks across Ogun State accessible and durable,” Adesina stated.
He further clarified that the initiative goes beyond mere repairs, noting, “The exercise is not just about patching roads; it is about making life easier for our people and supporting commerce. Better roads will translate into reduced travel time, safer journeys, and stronger economic activities for our communities.”
Residents in the area have welcomed the development, expressing hope that the successful execution of the maintenance project will significantly improve accessibility and boost local economic development once completed.
