In an exclusive interview on “Gateway Unscripted” hosted by a Julius Oyedokun on Friday, December 27, 2025, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, reflected on a remarkable period of legislative achievements that have significantly impacted his constituency, Odogbolu State Constituency.
Speaking about his administrative approach, Adeleye emphasized, “It is not a one-man job. We have a social contract with our people.” He highlighted his commitment to three primary legislative priorities: institutional strengthening, educational reform, and youth empowerment.
Legislative achievements have been a cornerstone of his representation. “I sponsored the principal general law that has been accented by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun now,” Adeleye proudly stated. “To God be the glory, I also sponsored the consumer right protection bill that is awaiting the ascent of the governor.”
Infrastructure and community development have received attention. “We are not expected to do projects because we do not have budget. But we cannot leave everything at just the door step of the executives, Adeleye explained, detailing initiatives like provision and facilitating transformers to communities, building of schools and markets,8 and enhancement of rural electrification.

Digital empowerment has been a unique focus of his approach. “Our own empowerment is not just buying items. We have collaborated with Microsoft and Google to train young people on data analysis, cybersecurity so that people can work remotely and be useful to themselves,” he noted.
Describing Ogun State’s strategic position and proximity, Adeleye highlighted, “Lagos is overstretched. Lagos is overburdened. And then the main destination is, of course, Ogun state.” He pointed to the state’s impressive economic indicators, with a GDP of around 18 trillion and a budget of approximately 1.6 trillion.
Community engagement has been pivotal, with Adeleye emphasizing collaborative governance. “Where the government is doing well, we have responsibility to applaud them… and when they are dropping the ball, we have responsibility to call them to order and even provide a credible alternative.”
Reflecting on his role as a first-time legislator, Adeleye expressed gratitude: “I represent the very prudent, cultured and hard-working people of Odogbolu state constituency.”
Looking forward to 2026, he remains optimistic: “I assure them that we are not going to rest on our oars. They should expect a representation that will capture their interests.” Adeleye stated.
