Abuja — The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a major diplomatic milestone as Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni was elected to the INTERPOL Africa Committee during the 27th African Regional Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa.
According to a press release issued by the Force Headquarters on August 29, 2025, CP Ojajuni’s victory in the “keenly contested election” secured Nigeria the fifth seat on the Committee, with a tenure of two years.
The INTERPOL Africa Committee, the statement noted, is “vested with the responsibility of advising the African Regional Conference in the execution of its mandate, facilitating its sessions, and identifying strategic crime priorities.” It also plays a key role in “strengthening police cooperation across borders, advancing best practices, and developing projects aimed at enhancing regional and continental security.”
The Nigeria Police described the development as a reflection of “Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters, particularly in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging threats.”

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, congratulated CP Ojajuni on the achievement, reaffirming the Force’s commitment to “professionalism, integrity, and international cooperation.” He pledged that the Nigeria Police would “sustain active engagement with global partners to promote peace and security worldwide.”
The statement was signed by DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, fCAI, Force Public Relations Officer.
