President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday to participate in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025) in the United Arab Emirates.

The annual summit, which will run from January 12 to 18, was initiated by the UAE’s president, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to promote global discussions on sustainability.

In a statement by the president’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, said that the summit will bring together world leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to accelerate sustainable development and chart new pathways for socioeconomic progress.

Onanuga said the event will also enable policymakers, business, and civil society leaders to explore pathways to fast-track the transformation to a sustainable economy and evolve a new era of prosperity for all.

“ADSW, a testament to the power of collaboration, has been held annually for over 15 years. It provides a global platform to foster multi-stakeholder cooperation in addressing global challenges and accelerating growth,” the statement reads.

“It has birthed high-value agreements and strategic partnerships between governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers worldwide, driving impactful alliances and advancing the sustainability agenda worldwide.”

Onanuga said Tinubu will showcase his administration’s reforms, including those related to energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development, at the event.

The president will also meet UAE leaders to discuss bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

Among government officials accompanying Tinubu is the minister of foreign affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and other senior government officials.

The president is scheduled to return to Nigeria on January 16.
